Dr. Schwartz was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His college degree was from Temple University where he graduated first in his class, majoring in chemistry and mathematics. At graduation, he received both the Herbert M. Winegard Memorial Award and the Award of the American Institute of Chemists. Dr. Schwartz received his medical degree from Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1977. After an internship and residency in internal medicine at St. Mary's Hospital, a major affiliate of Yale University, he completed his dermatology residency at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania. Dr. Schwartz is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology. He is currently in his 26th year of private practice in medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology. Dr. Schwartz is on the medical staff of the Fletcher Allen Hospital at the University of Vermont. He is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, the American Society of Cosmetic Dermatology & Aesthetic Surgery, the New England Dermatologic Society, and the Vermont Dermatology Society. He is a past president of the New Hampshire Dermatology Society. Dr. Schwartz has taught in several major east coast university hospitals. He achieved a black belt in judo from the United States Judo Federation. He is a certified ski instructor and is a member of the Professional Ski Instructors of America. Dr. Schwartz has authored numerous journal publications including a recent article in Professional Skier Magazine reviewing the damaging effects of ultraviolet light from the sun and how to select the proper sunscreen.
Dr. Schwartz practices general and cosmetic dermatology in South Burlington, Vermont and cosmetic dermatology in Largo, Florida. He has appeared numerous times on ABC, NBC, and CBS news discussing various skin related topics ranging from skin cancers and cold sore viruse to sun damage and selection of sunscreens. He has also appeared on television demonstrating techniques for injecting facial fillers for rejuvenation and enhancement.
